RAEC Mons announced that its coach Dante Brogno was leaving his post due to a serious problem within his family. He announced “to take a step back”.

Thunderclap from the co-leader of D1 ACFF, the Renaissance Mons 44. The Hennuyer club announced that its iconic coach Dante Brogno left his T1 position. Following a family tragedy, Brogno decided to “take a step back”, and left his post with his brother and deputy Toni Brogno.

Dante Brogno arrived at the head of RAEC Mons at the start of its “Renaissance” project, and took the Dragons to two consecutive promotions up to Nationale 1, now D1 ACFF. “Dante Brogno’s balance sheet is absolutely historic. He has brought a lot to the club both through his professionalism and his desire to aim higher,” declares Hubert Ewbank, Mons president.

“This situation is really difficult, as our friendship, our complicity and the work carried out together have had such an impact on me. We have experienced intense moments together (…) I will always be grateful to Dante, who did a wonderful job during of these years”, continues Bernard Courcelles, general director of the RAEC.

This season, RAEC Mons is tied for second place in D1 ACFF, tied on points with Olympic Charleroi. Both teams have 30 points. The Last Hour specifies that it is Bruno Leclercq who will lead the Dragons this Saturday against SL 16 while waiting for a new coach.

The media also specifies that Loris Brogno, son of Dante Brogno, is marked by the drama playing out in his family but will hold his place in the team this weekend. Walfoot would like to assure the Brogno family of his support in this difficult situation.
