Whistled by their own supporters: it smells like a crisis at La Gantoise – All football

Supporters in Switzerland have clearly expressed their dissatisfaction against Lugano in the Conference League. Wouter Vrancken was targeted first, but the players also took some for their guard.

For the midfielder Mathias Delorgeit was difficult to live with. “It’s not nice to be whistled by your own supporters,” he admitted after the match at the microphone of The Newspaper.

Still, Delorge showed understanding of the fans’ reaction. “They also came here and they have the right to have their opinion. But this is the first time I’ve experienced something like this. It touches me, and it shows. It’s difficult to say ‘talk about it’.

Despite the loss, Delorge also saw progress in the team. “I have the feeling that we are becoming more synchronized and that there is more cohesion and combinations than five weeks ago. There is an evolution in this team,” he assures.

“Lugano didn’t have many chances, apart from a few transitional moments which they fully exploited. The turning point was Omri Gandelman’s chance. If it had gone in, we could have come back.”

The midfielder also stressed that the team gave everything, even if luck was not on their side. “In my opinion, we gave everything, but things didn’t go as planned. It’s frustrating, especially when you feel progress. Now it’s up to us to translate it into results.”
