“Maddli”, the mascot of Women’s Euro 2025, unveiled in Geneva
The ambassador of the competition strolled through Cornavin station this Friday. It pays tribute to a pioneer of women’s football.

Around thirty children are stamping their feet impatiently in the hall of Cornavin station, under the confused gazes of commuters. It must be said that it is a curious spectacle on a Friday morning. But these primary classes did not come here for nothing: in a few minutes, the mascot of the Women’s Euro 2025 will be revealed.
The competition will be played in 8 stadiums across Switzerland from July 2 to 27. And in the meantime, the federal and cantonal authorities are gradually increasing the wait. This Friday, several personalities from women’s football came to attend the unveiling of the mascot. For example, we find Sandy Mändly, former player of the women’s Servette Chênois and sports director of the club. But above all, Madeleine Boll is present. The first licensed female footballer in Switzerland in 1965, she is a pioneer of women’s football.
The institutional speeches were quickly interrupted by the cries of children, who saw the mascot in the distance. They are rushing for the Saint Bernard dog, plush format, which will embody the spirit of this Euro. Seeing the way they surround her and barely let her move forward, the chosen design seems to be a success.
We are told that the mascot has been named Maddliin homage to Madeleine Boll. The latter, visibly moved, makes a few passes with the life-size plush toy to the delight of the children. “I never imagined such an honor,” she confides. I like it a lot Maddlishe has a nice face. The funny thing is that people often compared my character to that of a Saint Bernard when I was little.
The mascot will spend the morning walking by the lake, before taking the train to travel across Switzerland in the days to come. No doubt, Euro 2025 is already a party, and it started in Geneva.
