Bad news for the Canadian.
The club announced that Mike Matheson, who was unable to play last night, will not be able to face the Blue Jackets in Columbus tonight. He is still injured in his lower body.
It’s a big blow for the defense, clearly.
The six defenders who played yesterday will have to play tonight, given the fact that CH only has seven defenders with them on the road. There is no extra health with the club on the blue line, therefore.
Lane Hutson should, if we do like yesterday, be entitled to two waves of numerical advantage.
Yesterday, we didn’t really know if we should worry about Matheson since a guy has the right to miss a game once in a while without it being the end of the world either.
But there, two games in a row, it’s worrying.
Martin St-Louis, in an interview during the match on RDS yesterday, indicated not to worry too much. It remains to be seen whether he was right or whether we really have to worry about Matheson for the future.
Note also that Renaud Lavoie, on the radio (BPM Sports) this morning, mentioned that the Quebecer was hard on his body.
It also remains to be seen whether CH will feel the need to recall Logan Mailloux or another Rocket defender for the weekend’s matches. CH only has 22 active players on the roster: so they have room.
To be continued.
