MIES (Switzerland) – The November qualifying window for the FIBA Continental Cups 2025 was once again a great success with fans around the world.
The stakes were high for teams seeking to qualify for the FIBA AmeriCup, FIBA Asia Cup, FIBA EuroBaske and FIBA AfroBasket, competitions which will take place next summer.
The rise in popularity in places where the national teams had previously not been widely followed was evident, such as Nicaragua, host of the upcoming FIBA AmeriCup finals. A record number of 8,438 spectators filled the stands of the Alexis Arguello Hall to see their country challenge the Dominican Republic (73-89). In a hall whose capacity is normally 8,000 seats, the organizers managed to create additional spaces to satisfy as many fans as possible.

During the same qualifying window, in the same room, there were 7,301 for the confrontation against Mexico (77-86) a few days earlier.
A combined audience of more than 10,000 fans attended Brazil’s victories over Uruguay (71-65) and Panama (93-67) at the Arena Guilherme Paraense, while Canada’s match against Mexico (83 -73) brought together almost 4,000 spectators at the SaskTel Center in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Canada).

What a qualifying window in Asia, particularly in India! Many Indian fans came to show their support at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai for the matches against Qatar and Kazakhstan. Many Thailand fans were able to witness – from a distance this time – the large victory (112-71) obtained on Sunday in Jakarta (Indonesia) in front of 5,000 spectators.
The Mall of Asia continues to be a popular spot for international Basketball fans, with 11,686 spectators for the Philippines’ first-ever win against New Zealand, followed by 11,896 for the victory against Hong Kong, China, setting the set a new national record for the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.
During Japan’s success against Mongolia (93-75), 5,295 people took their seats in the stands of the Nikkan Arena Tochigi.

In the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers, the TIPOS Arena in Bratislava was sold out with 10,046 people present for the superb fight between Slovakia and Spain, the latter having resorted to two overtimes to finally win (76-72 ). Despite the defeat, Slovak basketball can perhaps find some consolation in the fact that this match was the one that attracted the most people on the continent.

Just behind, the Hovet Arena in Stockholm was packed – 8,906 spectators – to see Sweden turn around a compromised situation and surprise Germany (73-72). Note the performance of the German David Kramer, author on this occasion of a new points record in FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers with 43 points.

Greece fans were eager to see their national team react after the loss conceded against Great Britain (72-73) in their first confrontation a few days earlier in London. The PAOK Sports Arena in Thessaloniki brought together 8,200 spectators to see the Greeks take their revenge (77-67).
The matches played in Tallinn (Estonia), Wloclawek (Poland) and Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina) were also sold out, while elsewhere, venues also brought together thousands of spectators.
