Yves Vanderhaeghe very critical of a Pro League club: “They remained in D1A due to an refereeing error, a great gift from Nathan Verboomen” – Tout le football

Yves Vanderhaeghe totaled 129 matches on the KV Kortrijk bench over two spells. Now he sees that things are going much less well at his former club.

Yves Vanderhaeghe was the head coach of KV Kortrijk during the 2014-2015 season. He led 42 matches on the bench for the West Flanders club, before returning in 2018.

He remained in charge of the Kerels until January 2021. During this period, Vanderhaeghe led the team in 87 matches. Since November 2023, he has been unemployed after an adventure in Al-Faisaly.

The RWDM should have remained in D1A to the detriment of Kortrijk, according to Vanderhaeghe

In the meantime, he continues to follow Belgian football closely. The 54-year-old coach actively follows the work carried out by his former club, and does not hide his concern.

“I respect KV Kortrijk’s spectacular comeback last season, but what has changed? And if we’re honest: they stayed in D1A due to a refereeing error,” Vanderhaeghe told Newspaper.

“In the last minute of this match between Eupen and Kortrijk, Eupen should have received a penalty. The score would have been 1-1 and Kortrijk would have been relegated, not RWDM. It was a huge gift from referee Nathan Verboomen , but don’t get us wrong: I prefer to see Kortrijk in D1A rather than Eupen, hear me clearly”, he concludes.
