Ten goals in five games: an impressive performance that even Nicolas Frutos failed to achieve during his time with the Mauves. The former striker is therefore enthusiastic about Kasper Dolberg, but especially emphasizes the role of David Hubert.
An Anderlecht striker must score goals. Frutos quickly understood this. “Dolberg has always had enormous qualities, but now he finally seems to understand what it means to be the Anderlecht striker,” analyzes the former Mauves striker in the columns of The Latest News.
“The biggest difference is his mental approach. Under Brian Riemer, he was asked to do a lot of things that I don’t consider essential for a striker: getting down low, plugging holes all over the pitch. It cost him time. Hubert’s energy is making him perform better now by involving him more in the construction and combination.”
A new Dolberg since the enthronement of David Hubert
Frutos also sees that the changes in Anderlecht’s game since the departure of Brian Riemer are beneficial to Dolberg. “An attacker must remain focused when he receives the ball within sixteen meters.”
“It only works if your team plays dominantly, and that’s the case again for Anderlecht. Hubert has reintroduced it, and it gives players like Dolberg confidence to shine.”
The Argentinian believes that the Dane has a chance of winning the title of top scorer, but stresses that this should not become an obsession. “Dolberg has everything to be the top scorer in the competition, but he shouldn’t worry too much about that. He is above all a team player, and it is precisely this mentality that makes him so effective. The team works in his favor, and he repays this confidence by scoring goals.”
