With an average of 119.1 points and an offensive efficiency of 122.4 points per 100 possessions, the Knicks have the second best offense in the NBA. Of course, when you play in the East, the schedule is nicer, but last night, Tom Thibodeau’s players were in the West, and they exploded the Nuggets’ defense with 145 points scored! This is their best mark since November 1980…
Better yet, Jalen Brunson and his teammates tie a franchise record with 45 assists! A record dating from 1979. “That’s what I liked about this match, but I find that the team has been very altruistic since the start of the season” underlines Tom Thibodeau. “We create good shots and we find the guy with the hot hand or a good matchup, but we do it through movement, and it’s everyone working together to create the good shots. When we do that, we’re a great offensive team.”
Tom Thibodeau also knows how to set up an attack
Mike Malone, whose Nuggets also have a good attack when they are at full strength, is admiring.
“I hope all the Coach Thibs haters who say he can’t coach an offense really appreciate it…” he quips. “On offense, it’s an elite team! Brunson is one of the best point guards. KAT is one of the most difficult players to defend. There’s OG, Hart, Bridges. It’s a really good team. They had already humiliated us at the Garden (editor’s note: 122-84).”
Alongside a record-breaking OG Anunoby is Jalen Brunson, who ties his career high with 17 assists. He is the first Knicks player in 15 years to finish a game with at least 20 points and 15 assists.
“Defensively, we did a great job, and obviously also offensively. It was a historic night on offense.” repeats Karl-Anthony Towns, author of a 12/15 shooting. “On both ends of the pitch, everything worked.”
