The situation of the Red Devils was also at the heart of the discussions this Monday on the Vestiaire set. After the defeat against Israel, the question of the future of Domenico Tedesco is raised and our consultants already have some ideas when we talk about a possible successor.

The Red Devils are in the middle of a crisis. Playoffs in the League of Nations, they were unable to reassure during the last international break, after a 1-0 defeat in Israel which followed another defeat, against Italy. Enough to relaunch the debates on the future of Domenico Tedesco. On the Vestiaire set, the opinion was unanimous: he must be replaced. But by whom? There, on the other hand, the ideas are different.

“They can’t do this out of patriotism?”

Let’s start with Marc Delire. For our consultant, we must bring Michel Preud’Homme out of retirement and take a bold gamble. “Michel, you have to change your mind, you have to come back”he even said on our set. “He ticks all the boxes. He is Belgian, he is bilingual, he knows Belgian football, everyone knows him, everyone respects him, he has a great career, he has already proven himself. He always said that he wanted to take care of our national team Michel, you come, my guy.he detailed, recognizing all the same that it will be complicated to convince him to come back, he who has retired.

Kevin Sauvage has another idea in mind, but also opts for a Belgian. “I would have cited Philippe Clément,” he confirms. In difficulty on the Rangers side, the former Bruges player is often cited as a candidate for this role of coach. However, he declared at a press conference last week that he preferred to stay in Glasgow for the moment.

Thierry Henry and Sergio Conceiçao are also cited, although some express reservations about the financial capacities of the Belgian Union. An argument that does not please Marc Delire at all. “They don’t need any more money, these guys”he protests. “Don’t tell me they still have to scrape together money at the end of the month, they can’t do that out of passion, also out of patriotism?”he regrets, with a caveat all the same on Conceiçao, who is not Belgian and who will therefore be more difficult to seduce on this precise point.

As a reminder, Domenico Tedesco is still under contract until 2026 with the Red Devils.
