Obviously, Carlos Sainz did not understand why Charles Leclerc had ignored him copiously, after the arrival of the Las Vegas F1 Grand Prix. It was because of an instruction, in favor of the Spaniard, which should not have taken place according to the Monegasque's comments, that the person concerned threw a tantrum on his radio, before showing himself particularly cold with his teammate.
F1: Charles Leclerc punished for his rudeness?
“I did my job, but being nice sucks. It's not even being nice, it's just respect. I know I have to keep quiet, but at some point it's always the same thing. I don't want to go into detail about the issues with Carlos. I know I have to rely on myself”he declared to our colleagues at Sky Sports. Comments which could attract the wrath of the sporting powers, determined to smooth out the language of drivers in F1.
Return to this sequence, illustrating the tensions between the two protagonists.
Here are the words, reactions and official declarations of the two drivers as well as that of the boss, Fred Vasseur.
Carlos Sainz #55
Given the pace Mercedes had today, I think we maximized the team points, and even without the misunderstanding at pit entrance on my second stop, I don't think we could have stayed in front of Lewis. I expected to be more competitive after what we saw in testing, but we struggled a lot with graining today.
We will continue to fight in the next races to keep the battle for the constructors' title open until the end. On the way to Qatar.
Charles Leclerc #16
I finished the race where I started it today, so it wasn't that exciting, but if you look at the details it was pretty eventful. Unfortunately, we degraded the fronts on the first stint in Mediums, then we were able to return to the Hards which worked better. Congratulations to Max (Verstappen). He deserves this championship title, he had an incredible season and always maximized his results, which paid off for him. This motivates us to be even stronger next year and hopefully we can put a little more pressure on him then. We will push hard in the last two races to try to finish the season ahead of McLaren.
Fred Vasseur – Scuderia Ferrari HP Team Principal
First of all, congratulations to Max Verstappen for winning the title. As for our race, we struggled a lot in the first stint with the mediums, losing about two seconds per lap towards the end and again at the end of the second stint, the first on the hards. Overall our pace on the hard was okay, but we lost too much time in the early stages and our pace was generally a little too inconsistent. Ultimately, today's race was a case of damage limitation, but at some point we have to score more points than everyone else and we can't settle for that damage limitation if we want to keep the fight open. We scored 12 points more than McLaren and 16 more than Red Bull. Let's see what we can do next week in Qatar, a track that on paper does not suit us the best, but in which there is a Sprint and therefore even more points at stake. As a team we must do a better job in the next race.
For the record, Carlos Sainz took third place in the Las Vegas F1 Grand Prix, one breath ahead of Charles Leclerc, finally fourth under the checkered flag while he too claimed the top 3 of the day. Hence, most certainly, the anger of the driver born in Monaco.
