With a five-day break without playing, the Thunder had decided to send Ousmane Dieng in the G-League last Friday in a match that saw the Oklahoma City Blue win against the Rio Grande Vipers (104-97). Back in the development league to keep pace, the Frenchman left his Blue teammates after seven minutes of play and a problem with his right hand.
The verdict fell last night for Ousmane Dieng and fears are unfortunately confirmed for the Frenchman, who suffers from a fracture to his right ring finger which will cause him to miss three to four weeks of competition.
The welcome return of Isaiah Hartenstein
Integrated into the rotation during the Thunder’s first sixteen games, Ousmane Dieng is playing 11 minutes per game this season for an average of 3.5 points and 2.6 rebounds, with a 34% success rate including 25% from 3-point range. The Lot-et-Garonnais has until now occupied the role of replacement pivot during the sequences « small ball » from Oklahoma City, very largely stripped inside, but he was hardly used against Dallas and San Antonio.
Deprived of Chet Holmgren for several more weeks of competition, the Thunder have however just recovered Isaiah Hartenstein and could find Isaiah Joe (calf) soon, while awaiting the return of Alex Caruso (hip) who has just been announced absent against the Kings this Monday evening.
The Thunder are currently leader in the West (12v – 4d) tied with the Golden State Warriors and are coming off a sluggish victory against the Blazers (109-99). For his first appearance this season, Isaiah Hartenstein greatly helped his team by signing a double-double with 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks.
