In 1925, Leandro Arpinati, future mayor of Bologna, president of the Federation and very good friend of Benito Mussolini, wanted to promote sport with a gigantic complex in the city. The “Littoriale”, from the initial name of the stadium, must be “the first amphitheater of the fascist revolution”. We are therefore building the 50,000-seat enclosure, surrounded by an athletics track, two swimming pools, two gyms and four tennis courts.
