Ahh, the beautiful stories of the waiver.
All Montreal Canadiens fans will forever remember Paul Byron and everything he did after being claimed by the CH.
Other players like Carter Verhaeghe and Gustav Forsling, both from the Florida Panthers, also had very good runs with this second chance.
This season, a very particular name has surprised many on the hockey world: Dante Fabbro.
The 26-year-old right-handed defenseman was placed on waivers earlier this month by the Nashville Predators and many fans saw him arriving in Montreal.
The CH had the option to choose him second, after the San Jose Sharks, but Fabbro was ultimately chosen by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Let’s say that things are going pretty well for Fabbro so far, he who already occupies an important role within the Jackets’ defensive brigade.
Saturday evening, he scored his second goal in his new colors, he who now has a total of four points in six short games.
Not bad for a start.
Not only does he bring his two cents offensively, but he has also become a trusted man for Dean Evason, who uses him profusely.
Fabbro played 19:17 and 16:16 in his first two games with Columbus, but in the last four games he hasn’t played under 22 minutes per game.
And all this, without being regularly employed on the power play and penalty kill, if we rely on the frequently updated “Daily Faceoff” lineups.
He gets involved a little physically and is not afraid to throw himself in front of opposing shots.
Definitely, Fabbro seems to be becoming another one of those great waiver stories and the poor Predators must be biting their fingers.
