Saturday November 23, the members of the Club des Kalon d’En Avant Guingamp held their general meeting at the Roudourou stadium, before going to the Akademi, to support the women’s team which was playing an important match with a view to the retention in the Women’s Premier League.
“Unite, support and act”
This general assembly was an opportunity to highlight four causes that the association chaired by Laëtitia Fourrier supported during the year. “So we explain to the Kalon why they give money. Our three key words: unite, support and act,” underlines the latter. Of the 16,465 shareholder-supporters (over the two campaigns, in 2017 and 2023), 436 have renewed their annual subscription, “but the campaign only resumed in August”.
However, it is thanks to memberships that the association can financially support causes. Like Anouk, a 6-year-old Lamballaise, suffering from Skraban Deardoff syndrome which affects fifteen people in France. Or Symbiose, an associative oncological supportive care home, which opened its doors in Plérin in the summer of 2023. “The association supports women with breast cancer and their loved ones. We allowed him to finance longe-côte sessions. Sports practice is important in the care pathway,” emphasizes Laëtitia Fourrier.
A mobile ultrasound machine for the Smur
Another recipient honored on Saturday, the emergency department of Guingamp hospital. Last year, the Kalons were able to finance equipment that eased the burden on patients. This year, they opted for a mobile ultrasound machine, which will allow the Smur teams “to do a pre-assessment on patients whose cases are the most serious. We lack resources in public services. External aid, like that of the Kalons, is precious to us,” underlined Dr Alexandre Ellinger, head of emergencies. In 2025, the project is to finance cuddly toys for foster children, an object “that reassures them”.
