Women’s football-Souvenir not to be forgotten: the part of Professor Alaoui Abdelkébir Slimani on the future of Lamia Boumehdi, current champion of the CAF Morocco Champions League 2024 with TPM

BABA-HIBAPRESS-RABAT

If today we greatly praise women’s football in Morocco which thrills millions of Moroccan families, there have been certain emblematic figures who have contributed enormously to its promotion and development at the national level and who must be given due credit. the very little souvenir they deserve on this occasion of the CAF Morocco Women’s Champions League 2024

We cannot fail to mention Professor Alaoui Abdelkébir Slimani who was a key element in women’s football as an experienced educator before being a renowned coach in this discipline with titles and continental qualifications in his portfolio and who make it one of the first pioneers of women’s football in Morocco, for ten years within the National Team where ingenious players were able to build their football careers thanks to his teachings and directives

Today when we see that the talented Lamia Boumehdi is succeeding wonderfully in her new conversion, we can, for the occasion, only pay a vibrant tribute to Professor Alaoui who was the true discoverer of this rare nugget which would become the captain of the National Team under his leadership

Indeed, when Boumehdi was only sixteen years old, in 1999 she became the youngest player to be called up to the Moroccan National Team, under the leadership of Alaoui Slimani Abdelkébir, to take part in several international matches and training courses. It was precisely with Alaoui that she was able to leave for Norway where she sealed her true skills.

Under his leadership, she took part in the CAN 2000 qualifiers against Algeria in July and August 2000. Morocco, with Lamia Boumehdi starting, won the first leg as well as the return (3-0 then 3- 1), with two goals to his credit. She was also the undisputed scorer for the Lionesses of the Atlas during 49 selections among the Morocco Group

Morocco thus qualifies for the second time in its history at the CAN after that played in 1998. Lamia Boumehdi, having just celebrated her 17th birthday, is selected to play in the final phase which takes place during the month of November in South Africa. Competition at the end of which Morocco was knocked out in the first round, losing all its matches in a “hell” group made up of Cameroon, Nigeria and Ghana. The youngest African player to take part in the competition, Lamia Boumehdi plays all matches as a starter.

In 2001, the national under-19 team with Boumehdi in its ranks went to Cairo to compete in the Arab Junior Championship. Morocco won the competition after winning against Algeria in the semi-final (1-0) and against Egypt in the final (2-0)10. A well-deserved title with the National Selection

If Lamia is currently a coach with TP Mazembe, some of his teammates still play within the FAR as well as with the National Team, notably Aziza Rabbah, Badri, Chebbak…

Lamia had the genius of playing in the National Team and at the same time preparing her coaching diplomas, which allowed her to shine well in both cases and which she is now succeeding with even greater success

Today, we can think of what Alaoui’s thoughts would be on his discovery which has just demonstrated all his real talents in a most difficult profession.

May Alaoui rest assured, he was very successful with the National Team and was one of the first to provide his skills in this discipline still unknown in time and will never be forgotten by us even if some no longer think about it. him…Let’s tell each other!!!
