Permanent lighting

Every year, at this time, Road Safety observes a peak in accidents and invites pedestrians and cyclists to go more visible in the darkness.

For the occasion, the French Federation of Bicycle Users, of which the association is a member Dieppe & Co by Bikein Dieppe (Seine-Maritime), organized the “Cyclists, shine!” event on October 26. » in order to raise awareness about cycling visibility.

“The advice from Dieppe & Co à Vélo is to equip your bike with a lighting permanent, at the front and at the rear”, underlines Judicaël Gasparpresident of the association, who adds that flashing lighting at the front is prohibited.

Mandatory equipment

“There is a ranking of the best lighting established by the federation. And depending on how people feel, they can also equip reflective elements on their bike,” he says.

Some equipment is obligatorysuch as reflectors on wheels or pedals. The high visibility vest is not obligatory in the city, but it is outside urban areas at night and when visibility is insufficient.

“The best security is planning,” adds Judicaël Gaspar, who nevertheless believes that we “never have enough security. »
