A double for Josi against Winnipeg

Roman Josi shone in the NHL on Saturday. The Nashville captain scored a double in a match won 4-1 by the Predators against the Winnipeg Jets of Nino Niederreiter, author of an assist.

Aligned for almost 26 minutes, Roman Josi opened the scoring after 9’55 with a ‘slap shot’ before sealing the score in an empty cage 1’20 from the end of the third period. Credited with a record of +3, he was named second star of this match, the first going to his teammate Jonathan Marchessault (1 goal, 1 assist).

The Predators, who made the difference in a third period won 3-0, thus inflicted on the best team in the League its 4th defeat in only 21 games. For Nashville, this is simply the 7th victory, also in 21 outings, but the second in its last three matches.

‘Every game is important,’ explained Roman Josi, quoted on the NHL website. ‘It’s still early in the season, but every game means a lot to us. Starting tomorrow (Monday), we will go to New Jersey and we will face another great team. We have to keep building and playing even better.’

An assist for Hischier

Nashville will indeed challenge another team in form on Monday in Newark. Leaders of the Eastern Conference with 30 points accumulated in 23 matches, New Jersey and its Swiss colony picked up a fourth success in their last five meetings on Saturday by winning 3-2 in Washington.

Captain of the Devils, Nico Hischier is now 10 matches in a row without a goal scored. ‘Sticked’ to 10 goals since October 30, the Valais center nevertheless continues to shine: author of an assist on Dougie Hamilton’s 3-1 in the 36th, he now has 21 points to his personal tally.
