The winter period is not always conducive to playing pétanque, due to the cold, wind and rain. Thanks to the Obut company, the pétanque ball specialist, PVC balls have been created so that they can be played in winter in indoor halls or gymnasiums.

A way to play in winter

Obut therefore created PVC balls, with a diameter of 74 mm and a weight of approximately 680 grams, allowing them to be played indoors. The club of Petanque Tourouvrainechaired by Noël Mathieu, is the first Ornais club to test these new balls.

Pétanque in Orne has 26 clubs and 1,062 licensees

On Saturday, November 16, the general assembly of the departmental pétanque committee was held, chaired by Didier Hillière. The departmental committee is made up of 25 clubs and 1,062 licensees.
The results of the championships were presented and part of the office was elected. Medals were awarded. Three gold medals to Mireille Fauvel d’Argentan, Laurence Vinée de Crulai and Didier Hillière de Randonnai and a bronze medal to Nicolas Lebarbier de Mortagne. Pascal Caniou was elected vice-president and the secretary and treasurer will be elected later.

Saturday and Sunday, he organized two discovery and introduction days to the PVC ball, at the Zunino hall in Tourouvre-au-Perche (Orne) where a competition in four parts was organized. From now on, internal competitions can be organized indoors. The next ones will take place at the Zunino Hall on December 15, 2024, January 19 and February 16, 2025.
