“We need it, otherwise we are dead”, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi determined to leave the Parc des Princes

The president of -SG reaffirmed this Thursday, on RMChis desire to leave the Parc des Princes and build a new stadium. He puts the blame on Paris City Hall.

A question of life and death. This is how Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, questioned by RMC this Thursday, at the Campus, described the situation concerning the stadium and his desire to leave the Parc des Princes. Remember that PSG initially wanted to buy the Porte de Saint-Cloud stadium in order to expand and modernize it. Paris City Hall has closed the door to this option. For many months, the Parisian president has indicated his intention to build a new stadium.

He repeated it this Thursday, in Poissy, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Campus. “I really like the Parc des Princes. Everyone loves him. If I decided with my heart, we wouldn't leave. But today, with my head, I see that all the other European clubs have stadiums with 100, 90 or 80,000 seats. We need it, otherwise we're dead! We need to leave”he declared, in the show Rothen ignites.

No other solution

Relaunched on this notion of “life or death», the Qatari leader responded in the affirmative. “Yes. We are in but we play in Europe too. We play the Champions League every year. If we want to be at the same level as the other clubs, for financial fair play, for our supporters, we need another stadium, to grow from the stadium point of view. It's impossible (to continue with this stage). We have no other solution”he insists.

Note that there has been no exchange for months between the Town Hall and the club. The Île-de-France Region is doing what it can to help PSG find a new place to live, but the task is not simple. For now, it's the status quo. As reported Le Figaro for a long time, the reigning French champions have aimed to stay in the west of Paris. That's all we can say so far.

“NAK” in any case added that he had decided to leave “reluctantly”. And to add: “The first person this hurts is me. But we have no choice, the city leaves me no choice. It's the city that decides we're going to leave, not us. This is not our stadium, what can we do? Paris Saint-Germain has a lease which allows it to occupy the Park until 2043.
