New career choice for Johan Walem. The former coach of the Belgian hopefuls and Anderlecht youth team has decided to join as the new sporting director of the ACFF.
He presented his new functions this Thursday in Tubize, where a press conference was held. The opportunity for him to reconsider his choice.
“When we see the amateur side, the training of children, women’s football, the pyramid of talents… These are things which bring an exciting side”, declared a “motivated” Walem, reports the agency Belgian.
“It’s a privilege to be part of a project like this after everything I experienced in Belgium. I was supposed to launch my academy in Italy in January but when I saw the offer, I jumped on it,” continued the former Red Devil, for whom “the circle has come full circle”.
“There were doubts about who would take over this position but when we saw Johan’s name, there was a relief,” said Thomas Rodrigues PereiraCEO of the ACFF. According to him, Walem wanted to “return to the very essence of football.”
