Martín talks about this change in mentality that allowed him to triumph

Our new 2024 MotoGP™ World Champion, Jorge Martín (Aprilia Racing), appears on the December cover of Men’s Health magazine (the largest men’s magazine in the world) for the first time.

In this interview, the 26-year-old talks about his change in mentality after missing out on the crown in 2023 in favor of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team). The now Aprilia rider admits to being more “mature” in 2024 and explains to Men’s Health why he had to abandon the idea of being obsessed with victory.

“It is obvious that winning is a good thing, but you have to look a little further than that… I think that winning without anything on the side is missing something,” declared the World Champion.

“I think you have to look for a deeper meaning, to win for your people, to leave a mark. I look for that meaning in things so as not to be obsessed with winning,” added the current No. 89.

It was this change that allowed the Madrilenian to win his second World Champion title. Despite enormous pressure on his shoulders, he held on against Pecco Bagnaia and won the title after a 10-point thriller in Barcelona.

“In fact, I worked on my head a little, I had room to spare at that level. Before, I was obsessed with winning, I wanted to win and that’s it, and I discovered that it didn’t make me win more,” continued the Spaniard, who will take on a new challenge in 2025 on the RS -Aprilia GP as World Champion.
