: Jannik Sinner broke the bank in 2024

Winner of eight titles in 2024, including two Grand Slams (Australian Open and US Open), Jannik Sinner is the big winner of the season. The Italian, winner of the ATP Masters last week and guaranteed to end the year in place of No 1 in the world, has indeed won nearly 17 million dollars (16,914,035 exactly) thanks to his performances on the courts.

It is quite simply, in terms of revenue over a year, the second best performance in the history of the ATP, behind the 21.1 million dollars obtained by the Serbian Novak Djokovic in 2015.

This also means that the Italian, professional since 2018, won half of his total winnings ($33,989,584) in the past year alone. Better yet: at just 23 years old, Sinner entered the top 10 players with the most career money this week. A ranking which includes two Swiss, the Basel Roger Federer (3e) and the Vaudois Stan Wawrinka (8e).

And that’s not all. In addition to the 17 million dollars in winnings in official matches, we must add another 6 million to the Italian’s bank account, obtained after his three matches played during the Six Kings Slam exhibition, contested in Saudi Arabia at the end of the month of October.

All competitions combined, Sinner therefore won exactly 10,881,500 dollars in the last eight tennis matches he played this year: 6 million for his three Six Kings Slam matches, and 4,881,500 in five matches. (all won without losing a single set) during the recent ATP Masters.

Enough to see the future with a certain serenity, even if the specter of suspension still hangs over the Italian. Last March, the No 1 in the world had tested positive twice for clostebol, an anabolic steroid. Initially cleared by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), Sinner is not out of the woods yet.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed and requested a one to two year suspension for the Italian. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) is expected to rule by the end of the year. “It’s not a pleasant situation but we remain confident,” assured Sinner.
