In a few weeks, the winter transfer window will open its doors. In Belgium, many teams should take the opportunity to make some adjustments.
Anderlecht could notably be active by recruiting a new central defender and a creative midfielder.
Hazard and Vertonghen will be available soon
Olivier Deschacht, however, thinks that the Brussels club is not really obliged to recruit this winter: “If Jan Vertonghen and Thorgan Hazard return to 100%, then I do not believe that Anderlecht is obliged to recruit in January. Jan will take back control behind and guide the young people, while Thorgan will bring his creativity and experience.”
Before adding: “It wouldn’t surprise me if Anderlecht brought in an attacking player, but it’s not a necessity. With the returns of Jan and Thorgan, David Hubert has enough quality to compete with the other big guys clubs for the title.”
Will Anderlecht follow Deschacht’s advice?
We can understand Deschacht’s analysis, but Anderlecht cannot take the risk of not recruiting anyone this winter. Indeed, we do not know if Hazard and Vertonghen will be able to return 100% after so much time away. In addition, the Brussels club is not safe from one of its best players being injured in the weeks or months to come.
