Who will succeed Raphaël Linard to win the second edition of the 21 kilometers of Casteljaloux? On November 26, 2023, the runner from US Marmande completed the course in 1h18’47”, but he has not yet registered this year.
Monday, November 18, the event already had 416 participants for the half-marathon, compared to 204 last year. For the 10.5 km race, the number was 463. Registrations have therefore jumped compared to the 2023 trial, and are only possible online until Friday evening, 10 p.m., via Klikego. In total, 1,100 bibs are planned – not one more – to ensure the success of the event, which is overseen by nearly 80 volunteers.
How to explain this increase? “We saw it with the organizers of the Cadets triathlon this year: the sport is taking off again and we are finding, in the races, the figures of 2019, or even more,” enthuses Bruno Garbay, municipal councilor of the sports commission of the city. The route, which passes by the lake, also attracts newcomers, since there are currently only 150 registered, already present last year. »
At the start of the school year, several forest training sessions were offered to the public. Note also the renewal of the Challenge of elected officials open to local, departmental and regional politicians, as well as their teams: 14 participated last year; 20 are registered to date.

The event, inspired by the Foulées des cadets which were held in the 2010s, is a 10.5 kilometer loop, to be completed once or twice. Participants can collect their bib, Saturday November 23, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday November 24, from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., at the annex of the Jean-Monnet center, room of the Amicale laïque.
The start will be at 9 a.m. from Place Gambetta (which will also be the arrival point), in the heart of the city. Runners in the 10.5 km will have one refreshment point, while those in the half-marathon will have three. Like last year, but many were unaware, showers will be available in the Anne-Lemoine room.
For the 8 km hike, registrations will only be done on site. 200 people walked last year, in temperatures of -2 degrees. The Grand’Rue will obviously be closed to traffic. “The road to the lake will be severely disrupted, so we ask everyone to be careful,” recommends Bruno Garbay.
The awards ceremony will take place at 12 p.m., with a reception and surprise entertainment on Place Gambetta. All proceeds from the walk will be donated to a charity, which will be announced on D-Day. In 2023, 1,085 euros were donated to the Telethon.
