Bernard Tapie will be immortalized in front of the Vélodrome stadium. If this has been a certainty for several months now, the question of temporality is still unresolved, although the outcome is becoming clearer. At the microphone of BFM Provence, Laurent Tapie, son of the former president of OM, expressed the wish to see the statue inaugurated “somewhere between April, if we can have a good match, or May 26”.
Work to do before the ceremony
The date of May 26 is not trivial since it corresponds to the 31e anniversary of Olympique de Marseille’s victory in the Champions League. If the statue is ready, the City still needs to carry out work to strengthen the esplanade to support the building. “It’s the Town Hall who will tell us but a priori, yes, the reinforcement of the structural work on the esplanade is supposed to be finished in the spring”reassured Laurent Tapie.
