QMJHL: No. 96 of Pierre-Marc Bouchard will be retired by the Saguenéens

The Chicoutimi Saguenéens have announced that the No. 96 worn by Pierre-Marc Bouchard will be hoisted to the heights of the Georges-Vézina Center.

His jersey will be retired on February 1, 2025 while the Acadie Bathurst Titan will be visiting Chicoutimi.

It was Marc Denis who broke the news to him, going to surprise him before a garage league match. The Saguenéens shared the video of this announcement on their social networks.

With a smile on his face, Bouchard was congratulated by a few teammates, before putting on his Saguenéens jersey.

“It’s a wicked beautiful feeling right now. I shake a little, I had so many great years in Chicoutimi with the Saguenéens. It was a great springboard for a career in the National League. »

The Sherbrooke native played two seasons in the Saguenéens uniform between 2000 and 2002, before making the jump to the National League upon his selection by the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the 2002 draft, eighth overall.

Bouchard totaled 235 points in 136 games in a Saguenéens uniform, including a 140-point season in 2001-2002. He was also named Canadian Hockey League MVP that season.

Aged 40, Bouchard then played 593 games in the NHL with the Wild and the New York Islanders. He amassed 110 goals and 356 points, having his best season in 2007-2008 with 63 points.

He then finished his career with a few seasons in the AHL and in Switzerland.
