The departure of Aliou Cissé at the head of the Senegal national team has not yet fully sunk in the minds of the Senegalese. The proof, the president of the Senegalese Football Federation spoke about the dismissal of Cissé in an interview with the BBC.
Aliou Cissé was not reappointed as head of the national team after the end of his contract. After nine years as coach of the Senegalese football team, Aliou Cissé, 48, was fired from his post on Wednesday on instructions from the government.

Augustin Senghor, the president of the Senegalese football federation, who announced the news to Cissé, remembers the reaction of El Tactico, after the announcement of his dismissal. “He left following a government decision. We respect it because we respect authority. He was surprised, but the message he gave was that he didn’t want to create a crisis. He is very attached to his country. He said: “President, I will support Senegalese football, because I am a son of this country”said Augustin Senghor.
Augustin Senghor also spoke about all the achievements of the former coach, the first coach in history to win an African Cup of Nations (CAN) for Senegal. “Before his arrival, we had never won a continental trophy. It was huge for us. This is why I think it was good to let him finish his work, because Senegal is in a transition phase,” he continued.
