On the one hand, there is Ruth Metzler, a name that has remained famous since her four years at the Federal Council (1999-2003), and all the diplomatic skills that go with the role, but a rather limited sporting experience: a little athletics in her youth, three years as president of Swiss Sports Aid from 2005 to 2008, and that’s about it.
On the other, we find Markus Wolf, much less known to the general public and never elected anywhere, but whose curriculum vitae is overflowing with sporting references. Always with some success, the man was a player and coach of the Swiss unihockey team, head of the promotion of sport in Graubünden, member of the management of the Federal Sports Office, director of Swiss-Ski , CEO of the Weisse Arena group which orchestrates Laax tourism… Among others.
