Transfers / Top 14 – Midol Exclusive. Junior Kpoku and Ibrahim Diallo extended their contract to Racing 92

In the process of raising its head in the Top 14 by returning to one point of the top 6, Racing 92 is also showing ambition behind the scenes. Under-20 world champion with England last summer, Junior Kpoku confirms his phenomenal potential this season within the system desired by Lancaster. He has already started six games during this exercise.

At 19, the former Exeter player was forced to make a difficult choice since the English Rugby Federation wanted to repatriate him across the Channel so that he could be eligible for the XV de la Rose. According to The Telegraph, the RFU was even ready to offer him a hybrid contract. For information, the Federation’s “Elite Player Squad” program – with envelopes of £150,000 (around €180,000) – can go up to 25 players. This additional salary is supposed to encourage the repatriation of young talents or the retention of internationals in the country.

According to our information, Junior Kpoku has signed a new lease until 2027 with an option for the year 2028. This is a nice coup for Racing 92 which had made it one of its priorities. At the same time, the person concerned will be able to enjoy JIFF status from 2026.

Four more seasons for Diallo

Courted by several Top 14 teams, including Aviron Bayonnais, Diallo also chose continuity. The French international (3 selections) has extended his lease by four years. This season, apart from the opening match, he participated in all matches, being in the starting XV six times.

On the transfer market, Racing 92 is still looking for a number 8, if possible with JIFF status. President Laurent Travers is also looking for someone on the wing to replace Donovan Taofifenua in particular. The latter will take the road to Montpellier.
