The dean of the fleet has not said his last word. Overtaken yesterday by Sam Goodchild (Vulnerable), Jean Le Cam (Everything begins in Finistère – Armor-Lux) took over the lead in the 2024 Vendée Globe, Tuesday November 19. The latter even opened up a gap of 48 miles (at 7 a.m.) over the Briton. In the early morning, Sébastien Simon (Groupe Dubreuil) completes the leading trio, 80 miles from Jean Le Cam.

Holding the Eastern strategy, unlike the majority of the fleet, the leader passed between Cape Verde and the African coasts, but he has now headed west.

For his part, Louis Burton (Bureau Vallée), whose boat cracked this weekend, has not said his last word. After being “seriously asked the question of abandonment”the 39-year-old skipper embarked on improbable repairs on the open sea, using a grinder.

After two nights and a day of hardship, filmed by him, the Malouin succeeded in his mission and continued the race. At 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, he was in 25th place, 214 miles from the leader. The defending champion, Yannick Bestaven (Maître Coq), is 9th at 109 miles, just ahead of Clarisse Crémer (L’Occitane en Provence), who is 111 miles behind Jean Le Cam.
