It is without Darnell Nurse that the Oilers will face the Canadiens on Monday evening at the Bell Centre.
Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed the defenseman will be out for a while.
“He won’t play tonight. It will need five to ten days. We were very scared, but since what happened, he has progressed very well and is doing as well as he can. We will take our time so that he is ready when he returns.”
On Saturday, Nurse was the target of another nasty hit from the Maple Leafs’ Ryan Raves, who delivered a violent shoulder blow to his face. On Sunday, he was suspended for five games and fined just over $35,000 for his illegal bodycheck.
“As a coach, you don’t want to see that kind of thing happen. There is not a severe enough punishment, in my opinion, but the league handled the situation well.
