Angelica Moser and Simon Ehammer were elected Swiss athletes of the year 2024, Saturday evening in Bern, during the traditional Swiss Athletics Night, which brought together some 400 guests at the Bierhübeli.
But the Zurich pole vaulter based in Courrendlin, crowned European champion last June in Rome, was not the only regional one to receive honors. Alicia Masini (FSG Alle) and her teammates from the Swiss junior 4x100m team were named Swiss team of the year. Raphaël Monachon and Louis Heyer were applauded for their entire careers as national coaches, Monachon as coach of the Swiss women’s 4x100m, Heyer at the head of the Swiss middle distance. The referees and expert starters who recently obtained their international card also took the stage; among them the Tavannois Claude-André Polier.
Earlier in the day, in Ittigen, during the annual Swiss Athletics seminar, Liliane Cattin and David Wüthrich, president of FSG Alle and president of CA Moutier, received their sports club management diploma at the end of the training organized by the Swiss federation.
Let us also note that Florian Clivaz, who coaches Mujinga Kambundji, was elected coach of the year.
