Canadiens fans would certainly have liked the rumors that linked Martin Necas to Montreal last summer to come to fruition. Just take a look at the National Hockey League (NHL) scoring charts Monday morning.
Necas exploded at the start of the season. With a total of 30 points, including 11 goals, in 17 games, he is third in the NHL, only ahead of the superstars Nathan MacKinnon and Kirill Kaprizov.
Sunday night, he stretched his streak of games with at least one point to 13.
In Hurricanes history, no player had been so productive during the first 17 games of the regular season.
This is a spectacular development for this talented player who has benefited from the advice of Alex Kovalev in recent years. If he keeps up the pace, he will finish the season with 140 points.
