The 4th edition of the Morocco Backyard Ultra, a competition that combines endurance, resilience and performance, set a new distance record in Morocco. Mohammed Sahih set a new record with 37 loops, for a total of 247 kilometers covered. This exceptional performance would not, however, have been possible without the decisive role of the second, Mohammed Alaoui, who finished his race after 36 loops.
This unique event offered Moroccan athletes a golden opportunity to qualify to represent their country at the 2026 Backyard Ultra World Championship.
The Morocco Backyard Ultra brought together participants of three nationalities – Moroccan, French and Belgian – around a challenge as simple as it was formidable: to cover 6.7 kilometer loops in less than an hour, again and again, until so only one winner remains. The absence of a time limit requires runners to push their physical and mental limits in a competition where strategy is as important as endurance.
The Backyard Ultra was created by Gary “Lazarus Lake” Cantrell, an American ultramarathoner known for his creativity in organizing extreme endurance races, including the legendary Barkley Marathons.
