Sandra Badie, one of the figures of the French jiu-jitsu team, died of cardiac arrest at the age of 31, France Jujitsu announced on her Facebook page on Friday.
“Sandra Badie, vice-world champion 2022, 3e of the last World Games died, this night (from Thursday to Friday), following a cardiac arrest”, she writes.
The French Judo Federation, on which this sport combining several martial arts depends, expressed its “tremendous sadness”.

At the World Games last July in Birmingham, United States, Sandra Badie won bronze in her -48 kg category before going for the title with the French team in the mixed team event.
An “iconic” personality
She had also obtained a silver medal at the world championships organized in Abu Dhabi in the fall of 2022.
The Judo Club of Soumoulou, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, where she was licensed, saluted the memory of this fighter, several times champion of France. “Iconic personality of the Soumoulou judo club, she will leave a big void all around her,” added the club on its Facebook page.
