Disputed from October 16 to 20 has Tunis (Tunisia)between around ten nations, the underwater world championships once again crowned a member of the Underwater club fougerais (SCF).

This year, the Fougères team made up of four shooters andand arbitratorMaxime Boscher, returned with an individual world champion title for François Chauvel, crowned with a new world record in the precision test.

In addition, the A team composed of François Chauvel and Mickaël Boivent became world vice-champions behind Lyonclimbing onto the 2nd step of the podium.

4 events on the menu

During the underwater world championships, three individual events and one team event, the relaywere offered to competitors.

First of all, the test of precision with 10 shots at 10m in 10 minutes, the target being at the bottom of the water. It is in this event that François Chauvel was titled, scoring 4000 points out of a maximum of 4600, establishing a new world record that will be difficult to achieve.

The 2nd test is biathlon with three freediving courses to complete for three shots on an underwater target at 15m. Finally, the super biathlon, a speed test with 5 passages over a distance of 10m and the obligation of a shot in each visual.

The collective event, the team relay, has nine targets for two or three competitors. If Lyon won ahead of Fougères A, Fougères B (4th) – Anthony Chevalier and Antoine Cupif – missed the podium by a few millimeters, behind Rennes.

The SCF in 2nd national rank

Affiliated with the majority federation, the French Federation of Underwater Sports (FFESSM)the Fougerais club is one of 2,500 French clubs which have more than 130,000 members.

Remarkable fact: for 5 years, the SCF has been ranked 2nd nationally among clubs. Created in 1973 by some members of the SAGEMthe club today has 180 members, including some women.

After four years at the head of the club, Sylvie Lesage decided to hand over the reins at the last general meeting. It is now Christophe Communier who presides over the destiny of the sport sous-marin fougerais.

The club offers four sections: target shooting and underwater fishing, freediving, swimming with fins and scuba tank. Training (4.5 hours per week, Monday and Wednesday) takes place at theAquatic.

During the saison which runs from the end of October to the beginning of June, around ten competitions with ranking are offered to members.

The French championship will take place at the beginning of June 2025 at Caen. Next April 26 at theAquatic The 14th Felger Trophy organized by the SCF will take place.
