For the 7th round of the Coupe de France, the players from Mayotte traveled to France to face the team from Crépy-en-Valois. They won after penalties (0-0, tab 2-4) and are therefore qualified for the 8th round of the competition.
What a victory! Coming specially to France, the Black Devils of Combani (Mayotte) faced US Crépy-en-Valois this Saturday, November 16 for the 7th round of the Coupe de France.
The Mahorais fought for 90 minutes without managing to open the score. At the end of regulation time, the score was tied: 0-0. The two teams were therefore decided with the formidable penalty shootout. By stopping two shots from US Crépy-en-Valois, the Diables Noirs qualified for the rest of the competition (2-4).
On paper, the bill was affordable for the Mahorais: Combani is at the top of the regional 1 ranking while Crépy is in regional 3. But nothing was over yet. The Black Devils had to do without seven of their best players, unable to travel to France because they were in an irregular situation. The club therefore mobilized its youth to replace them, including four young people in U17.
“Here in mainland France, it plays on the offensive and defensive transition, so we worked on everything that is collective“, specified Chaquir IbrahimCombani’s coach, before the meeting. To support them in avoiding mistakes, the Mahorean football league has provided the team with a regional 1 coach.
