Genève-Servette did not continue after its 5-0 success in Lausanne in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League. At home, the Garnets were beaten 5-4 after by Kloten. Biel, for its part, remained silent at home against Langnau to lose 1-0.
The Vernets team therefore failed to celebrate a third success at home this season. Jan Cadieux’s protégés quickly led 2-0, via successes from Markus Granlund (5th) and Sami Vatanen (6th) made 5 against 3. Passing the 2-0, the Swede added another goal to his collection, once again taking advantage of the indiscipline of Zurich (3-1 in the 17th, 5 against 4).
In the 33rd minute, Lauri Marjamäki took the option of changing goalkeeper, choosing to introduce Sandro Zurkirchen. His performance and the goals from Keanu Derungs (26th), Sami Niku (33rd) and Thomas Grégoire (39th) completely turned the game around. Arnaud Jacquemet’s equalizer (42nd) allowed GSHC to obtain the right to play an extension. An additional period which, however, only lasted 23 seconds, time for Miro Aaltonen to score the decisive goal.
Biel broken down
For its part, Langnau ended a series of four defeats by winning in Bienne (1-0). The success of Latvian with Swiss license Oskars Lapinskis (19th) will have faithfully transcribed the domination of the visitors, during the initial third.
The Emmentalois were then able to maintain this small lead against the Zealanders who were not very convincing offensively. Stéphane Charlin took the opportunity to be cleared for the second time this season.
