The 8th day in summary

Before the derby between Lyon and Saint-Étienne at the end this evening (9 p.m., Canal+ Foot), an overview of the matches from the 8th day of Arkema Premier League, played on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 November.

Katoto, strong head

A week after her hat-trick against Strasbourg (4-0), Parisian striker Marie-Antoinette Katoto was once again decisive. At the Auguste-Delaune stadium, she overthrew Reims who had found the entry loophole through Lucie Calba, following a big defensive error from Eva Gaetino, perfectly exploited (1-0, 6th). From a corner from Océane Hurtré, the French international placed an unstoppable header to reward Parisian efforts (1-1, 38th). Shortly after the hour mark, she took a cross from Manssita Traoré and headed past an uninspired Élisa Launay on her way out (2-1, 68th). Seventh victory of the season for PSG, as many setbacks for Stade de Reims which had collected its first points in Le Havre eight days earlier and logically plunged back against stronger opponents.

RC STRASBOURG ALSACE – PARIS FC 1-4
The PFC unfolds

The days follow one another and are similar for Racing. Beaten by PSG during the 7th day (0-4), the promoted Strasbourg expected another big game with the reception of the PFC. They suffered from the start, the Parisiennes carrying out intense pressing rewarded by the opening score of their captain Gaëtane Thiney on a lob (1-0, 11th). Shortly after the half-hour mark, the club’s top scorer Clara Mateo (2-0, 34th) and Slovenian Kaja Korosec made the break (3-0, 39th). An advantage which illustrated the control of Sandrine Soubeyrand’s players over the match although the RCSA reduced the gap through Mégane Hoeltzel (1-3, 42nd). A final achievement from Julie Dufour (4-1, 86th) and Paris FC pocketed a fifth victory this season, securing its place on the podium (3rd). For Strasbourg (9th), which is two points ahead of the relegation zone, the next three matches – reception of Nantes, travel to Le Havre and Reims – are starting to turn around.

DIJON FCO – GUINGAMP 4-0

What will stop Dijon FCO? Perhaps Paris-SG on the 9th and next day. In the meantime, Lena Goetsch’s teammates never cease to surprise.
