The stands were full to see the David versus Goliath fight on Saturday at the Saint-Lazare stadium in Limoges. For the first time in its history CS Feytiat, in regional 1, faced a league 2 club, Clermont Foot. On the pitch, achieving the feat of beating a professional team was on everyone’s minds. But despite several chances throughout the match, Nicolas Désir’s players conceded 3 goals to zero facing the Auvergnats.
A third goal in the last minutes of play
After a relatively balanced start to the game, with Clermont relaxing at the end of the first half, the defense against Feytiat gradually solidified. Mehdi Baaloudj scores in the 8th minute, Ousmane Diop doubles the lead in the 59th, before Yohan Magnin finishes with a third and last goal in the 90th minute.
An enriching experience for Feytiat
“After a goal very early in the first half, we pulled ourselves together wellanalyzes Nicolas Désir, the coach of CS Feytiat, but I think we would have deserved to go back to at least one everywhere, to see how it reacts”. No regrets for Théo Bonin, captain of the team. The meeting was obviously special for the team: “In a match like this, we know that we have no room for error. Overall, we are quite happy with what we did”explains the midfielder. “Now we know how to better manage the pressure of this kind of match, we know that it will be useful to us for the championship. The more you play against better players, the more you improve.”he summarizes. Feytiat is therefore eliminated from the Coupe de France, but leaves Saint-Lazare with his head held high.
