Landry Chauvin’s players lost on Saturday in Türkiye against the Dutch (0-1), in an international friendly match.
After their short defeat against Turkey last Wednesday (0-1), the U18 Tricolores suffered a second setback this Saturday, November 16 in Gölcük, against the Netherlands, at the end of their last meeting of the year 2024.
Landry Chauvin’s players gave in quite logically with a goal from Manuel Bahaty in the 23rd minute (0-1) during a complicated first period before regaining color in the second act.
They will meet again in March 2025 to play a friendly tournament in Portugal during the scheduled international break.

THE SELECTOR’S ASSESSMENT
Landry Chauvin : “It was our second rally of the season since we had nothing in October while our opponents had two before. It matters at that age. We had 11 new players on this course compared to the Limoges Tournament. The idea was to prepare for the U19 season with a view to the deadlines of Tour 1, Tour 2 and potentially the final phase of Euro 2026. It is important to provide a start for each new player because during the pre-match protocol, during the anthems, emotions can take over. Today, we have completely renewed the team, which allows us to provide answers to certain questions. We suffered a lot again in the first half because the Netherlands have a much more mature team than ours and they presented their eleven type compared to the match we had already observed. It’s not an excuse but it can explain.

We had a complicated first period and the second period, with the contribution of the newcomers, was much more consistent. Overall, these two defeats with a score of 0-1 relate to the matches played in Limoges where we had draws. The most important thing is to experience a gathering with players you don’t know, to multiply associations to prepare for the future. I hope we will have the chance to meet again in March. We saw 33 players, there are 4 who are currently with Jean-Luc Vannuchi in the qualifying round for Euro U19 2025 and a few others absent due to injury that we would like to discover. The idea is to have a core of 40-45 players on whom we can rely to start the U19 year with a little more references. There is the disappointment of having lost 2 matches but we have to gain perspective because we have obtained answers to several questions. We are halfway between youth football for some who have not yet assimilated vice and efficiency in certain areas of the pitch and others who have already taken this step. There is heterogeneity in relation to this and the experience in particular. »
