Beaten 9-1 by Rouen in front of their home crowd, the Raptors of Gap are in 11th place in the Synerglace Ligue Magnus rankings. As we left the stadium, disillusionment prevailed among the supporters on Friday evening.
The Alp Arena was the scene of an intense duel between the Raptors of Gap and the Dragons of Rouen this Friday, November 15 in the evening. An evening marked by the passion of the supporters, which however was not enough to turn the tide of a one-sided match.
Gap lost heavily with a score of 9-1 and is in 11th place in the Synerglace Ligue Magnus, just ahead of Briançon.
Disappointed supporters
From the first minutes, the Rouen Dragons imposed their rhythm, quickly putting the Raptors in difficulty. But despite relentless efforts, the Gap team is struggling to find its feet against a formidable and well-organized Rouen team.
A result difficult to digest for the supporters who came in large numbers to the Alp Arena, hoping to see their team shine.
“We are really disappointed with the Raptors team because they are not playing as we would have hoped. We knew that Rouen was a very strong team. So we expected a complicated match but not to this extent” , laments Léo Pascal, a supporter since a young age.
“We don’t understand, usually they are better. The old team was stronger than the one we have now. I think we are not going to hold up this year in the playoff rankings,” adds Nassim who leaves the stadium disappointed by the match.
But some continue to see the bright side. “We were used to seeing the team play better, but they were still combative so that’s the positive side. We hope that it will be better in the next matches”, hopes Thibault before returning to his group of friends to support.
An opportunity to come back strong
Despite this crushing defeat, the Rouen Dragons coach was understanding towards his opponents.
“I think it’s a team in full doubt at the moment. In front of our goal, there are a lot of failures, but we’ve had that. When the players start to doubt, passes and throws go badly,” explains Fabrice Lhenry in front of journalists’ microphones.
And added: “It’s really hard to live with but they have potential. This defeat is a hard blow, but I’m sure they will be able to bounce back. They have experienced players who have had success and It is with these leaders that they will be able to get out of these moments.”
For the Raptors, the season is far from over. They will have the opportunity to redeem themselves during their next home meeting, scheduled for Friday, November 22. That day, they will face the Jokers of Cergy, with the hope of reviving their dynamic and regaining the trust of their audience.
