Death of Johnny Gaudreau: Crosby, Matthews and Suzuki devastated

The entire hockey community has been affected by the horrible deaths of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew.

Félix Séguin spoke with three well-known faces from the National Hockey League who were all devastated when asked to speak about the tragic events of August 29.

“I was heartbroken when I heard the news,” said Sidney Crosby. You understand how precious life is. I had the opportunity to meet Johnny at the all-star games and at a wedding. A funny guy, pleasant to be around…”

Toronto Maple Leafs sniper Auston Matthews used to play with Gaudreau when he played for the United States. With moist eyes, he seemed particularly affected by the death of the dynamic attacker.

“We are devastated,” he admitted. I feel really lucky to have been able to play with Johnny during my career. He’s a fantastic person. It’s really sad and just hard to understand. I think of the family, his loved ones and his wife.

For his part, Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki promises that he will keep Gaudreau in his thoughts.

“It’s coming to get you, these are two hockey players who have left us. I feel sorry for his wife and his family. I will certainly think of him for a long time,” he said.
