Xamax loses in friendly against FC Sion • Neuchâtel Xamax

The Rouge et Noir hosted FC Sion at La Maladière this Friday in a friendly match. For this meeting, Uli Forte had called up several young players from the Xamax Academy (Moser, Reinhard, Cattin and Holzer) who however did not start the match. The coach decided to align his team in a 4-2-3-1 system, with the presence of Hussayn Touati in the number 10 position in support of Koro Kone. On the Sedun side, Didier Tholot lined up the big team with an eleven almost similar to the victorious team against FC Lucerne last weekend.

After a solid start from the Rouge et Noir, including a big opportunity for Ramizi after a ball recovered by Touati, the Xamaxiens conceded the opener following a tumble from Chouaref and an (innocuous) strike from Chipperfield in the 14th minute Despite everything, the game remained very balanced between the two teams with the Xamaxiens responding well to the physical challenge imposed by the Valaisans. Omeragic, however, had to pull out all the stops twice, winning in particular on a recovery from Berdayes in the 25th minute. Uli Forte’s men showed great phases of play with high quality ball releases through a radiant Fabio Saiz. Despite this, the Xamaxiens did not get any real opportunities to deceive Lindner’s vigilance until the 44th minute when Koro Kone found himself in a perfect position against the goalkeeper but unfortunately did not find the target. The half thus ended with a one-goal advantage for the Valaisans.

Returning from the locker room, the Rouge & Noir quickly managed to come back to score. After a nice pass from Ramizi, Koro Koné brilliantly eliminated a Sédunois defender before serving Demhasaj who just had to push the ball into the back of the net. This goal reignited the debates between the two teams who began to engage in a balanced confrontation with opportunities on both sides. In the 60th minute, Uli Forte decided to make several changes in order to offer playing time to the young Academy players. The latter showed good intentions, but the Sédun defense remained solid. Despite a draw that seemed to be taking shape, Sion was able to seize the last opportunity of the match. At the last second, Bouchlarem gave his team victory with a superb cross strike which left Mossi no chance.

We look forward to seeing you for the next match at the Stade de la Maladière on Friday November 22 at 8:15 p.m. against FC Thun. Don’t hesitate to come out in large numbers to support our players for this important match!
