At the height of the damage? A Charleroi supporter sentenced to pay 65,000 euros to the club – All football

Almost two years ago, André, a Charleroi supporter, definitively stopped the match between Sporting and Mechelen. His sanction is heavy.

It was an evening in November 2022. Charleroi remained at a very difficult start to the season which had also cost Edward Still his place. While waiting for the arrival of Felice Mazzu, Frank Defays was in charge of the interim.

The anger of the supporters was brewing and was particularly felt against Mechelen, with smoke bombs and projectiles being thrown. On the pitch, the Zebras fought, and even managed to open the score against KV.

In this context, Sporting was hopeful of having a little respite, and above all of seeing the match reach its conclusion. But one last projectile from T4, one too many, led to the final end of the match and a forfeit victory for the Malinois.

A gesture of frustration that is expensive

André, the author of this latest prank, had already been banned from the stadium until 2027. Le Soir reports today that he was also sentenced by the Court of First Instance of Hainaut – Charleroi division to pay nearly 65 000 euros at Sporting.

A particularly hefty bill which includes the 60,000 euros fine that the club had to pay to the Pro League and the Belgian Federation, the 3,750 euros in basic procedural compensation costs, the 337 euros in citation costs , and finally the 165 euros registry fee.
