Zverev in pattern in semi-finals, Alcaraz eliminated – rts.ch

Alexander Zverev signed his third victory in as many matches at the ATP Masters in Turin, beating 7-6 (7/5) 6-4 the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who is eliminated.

Like world No. 1 Jannik Sinner the day before, Zverev scored a success in the group stage with a third victory in 2 sets, which gave him his ticket to the semi-finals. Guaranteed to finish in 1st place in his group, the world no.2 knows the name of his next opponent, the American Taylor Fritz (5), runner-up to Sinner in the “Ilie Nastase” group.

Alcaraz was eliminated even before the last group match in the evening between the Russian Andrey Rublev (7) and the Norwegian Casper Ruud (8). The Spaniard will be able to join Rafael Nadal in Malaga for the final phase of the Davis Cup.

Zverev’s eighth consecutive victory

Beaten by Ruud, Alcaraz revived by beating Rublev but failed to worry Zverev. In the deciding game, the German took off and pocketed the first set in 65 minutes, before making the entry break in the second set. Even if Alcaraz offered himself break points for the first time in the match in the 5th game, Zverev did not tremble and signed his 69th victory of the season, the 8th in a row.
