He plays handball, enjoys horse racing, and is an avid viewer of sporting events. But above all, Thomas Delaunay loves amateur sport. Problem: the latter is very little publicized.

So the manager of the company Delaunay Productions, specializing in events and audiovisual production, launched Delaunay+, a streaming site, a few weeks ago. Free, it allows you to find live amateur sports matches. Interview.

Why did you create a streaming platform dedicated to amateur sport?

I start from this observation: the need to publicize amateur sport. Highlight clubs that have no visibility. I am a big consumer of sports content, I watch Ligue 1… But amateur matches interest me enormously!

I also notice the increase in prices, we are now used to paying a lot of money every month to consume sport. When I say that my platform is free, people are surprised. I wanted a model that could be self-financing, while trying to have as many advertising levers as possible. It will even allow clubs to create new income.

Concretely, how does it work? How do clubs get published on your site?

We provide a camera to the club. These are automatic cameras, with a SIM card inside to have a 4G or 5G network, which allows you to broadcast online. We also provide a tripod that goes up to 5 meters. They install it at the edge of the field, and they start broadcasting in a few minutes, it’s very simple.

It is an Artificial Intelligence that manages the framing. It automatically tracks player groups. The movements are fluid, it’s very on point. It’s a wide, simple shot, in 1080p full HD.
The first time, we help the club install the camera, and we will train two people to use it. The first match is free for them, while the clubs become familiar with the tool. But installation only takes 5 minutes.

How much does it cost for clubs?

The cost is €190 per month for the club; This includes camera and tripod rental, scoring and time features.
We invoice over 10 months, the two summer months are not counted. It is not impossible that the clubs will manage to amortize the 1,900 euros spent per season, or even manage to make the investment profitable.

Make money? But how?

On the site, we have boxes for advertisers and sponsors. We give the boxes to the clubs, and they use them as they want. A regional level club can, for example, affix the logo of an advertiser for €50 per match.

For now, what can we see on the platform?

We have signed Rouen Handball, the senior girls and boys teams for the whole season. We do the whole season. We will surely soon be able to see the and Luneray football teams, it is currently being signed. There are plenty of potential candidates for this technology.

And so far… is it working? Do you have an audience?

Over the first 3 test matches, we are rather happy. We had 450 registered with a women’s handball match at 6 p.m., or even a Nationale 3 basketball match.

What are your goals?

I think at the end of the year we will have signed 15 to 20 clubs. The goal I set for the end of the season is to have 100 clubs. And thus broadcast 100 matches per weekend.
