Surprising: a few months later, a Dutch football legend in place of…Kompany? – All football

Ruud van Nistelrooy is being considered by Burnley as a possible successor to Scott Parker, according to various English media. The 48-year-old could thus continue his career in England, after recently leaving his post as assistant coach at Manchester United.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was active at Manchester United since this summer as assistantErik ten Hagwho was fired earlier this month. After Ten Hag’s dismissal, Van Nistelrooy temporarily took over the reins of Manchester United. As interim coach, he achieved several remarkable results.

Under his leadership, United achieved victories against Leicester City (5-2 and 3-0) and against PAOK (2-0). They also got a draw against Chelsea (1-1) at home. This run of performances made quite an impression, and it appears Van Nistelrooy has convinced Burnley of his potential as head coach.

Currently, Burnley doubts the future of Parker, the former Club Brugge coach and successor to Vincent Kompany at Burnley. In the first fifteen games, Burnley found the net only eighteen times, while conceding only six goals.

Burnley’s ambition is clear: the club wants to return to the Premier League at all costs after its relegation last season. Management wonders whether Parker can achieve this goal and therefore appears to be considering Van Nistelrooy as a possible successor. However, no direct contact has yet reportedly taken place between Burnley and the Dutchman, but interest in his services is now known.

Manchester United announced on Monday not only the departure of Van Nistelrooy. His deputies René Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel also left the team. This summer, he was cited by Club Brugge and was also approached by Genk.
