Logan Mailloux has nothing more to learn offensively in the American League

In his first season in the American League, Logan Mailloux did well.

He collected 47 points (14 goals) in 72 games and there was nothing to say about his offensive production.

That said, he continues his momentum since the start of the Rocket campaign.

Mailloux played five games with CH (and he scored three points), but it was really in that he stood out as a dominant player.

The defender – who is 21 years old, it must be remembered – has 12 points in his first seven games of the season in the American League… And that leads me to say this: Mailloux has nothing more to learn at the bottom level offensive.

It has proven itself even if the sample is small. And I agree with Grant McCagg when he says Mailloux is going to be a top-4 defenseman for a long time in the National League:

Looking strictly at his offensive performance, it would be easy to say that Logan Mailloux deserves to be recalled by the Canadian.

But we know what the problem is with him.

Mailloux needs to work on his defensive game, as is the case for many young 21-year-old defenders. He must perfect his game…And I wonder if that’s what the Canadian is waiting for before giving him a real chance in the NHL.

A few games here and there, it’s nice… But it’s not as if he had had time to make his place in the Habs lineup.

That said, his development is interesting to see because Mailloux is improving quickly.

He’s already starting to be one of the best players in the AHL at just 21 years old and usually, that’s good for the progression curve of a prospect like him.

Because if it wasn’t for his defensive play, he’d probably be playing with the Canadian right now…

– Logic.

– He has emotions, too.

– It’s going to get messy.
