AS Roma and Claudio Ranieri, episode 3: Roma has formalized the return of the 73-year-old Italian technician until the end of the season. Ranieri came out of retirement after just four months to save Roma from a so far disastrous season.
“AS Roma is pleased to announce that Claudio Ranieri is its new coach,” she said in a press release. “At the end of the season, he will assume a leadership role, advising the owners on all sporting matters. The search for a new coach will continue for the coming months and Claudio will have a say in this decision,” the club added.
Ranieri knows Roma well, the club where he began his playing career: the Roman by birth has already coached the Giallorossi twice, between 2009 and 2011, narrowly failing to win the title in 2010, and for a few months in 2019. He is the third coach since August to sit in the exposed chair of Roma coach, after Daniele De Rossi, quickly dismissed after four matches (three draws, one defeat), and Ivan Juric, relieved of his duties on last weekend with a record in all competitions of four wins, three draws and five defeats.
